The Signal Processing Tool from the Seismograph Software Suite – SMDA (v6.3) – has been published.
SMDA is a set of complete tools for managing earthquake accelerogroms that allows to create a database of ground motion records and save them all in a single file.
The SMDA workflow starts with creating a database of custom Ground Motion Records and editing its basic information. The software is capable of reading accelerograms saved in different text file formats (See FF here). If the PEER Ground Motions are used, additional information such as earthquake magnitude, focal length, soil properties, etc. can be extracted from the provided FlatFile. If needed, further modifications (such as baseline correction, filtering, and initial rest time clean-up) can be made. Once the database editing is finished, you can compute other ground motion parameters (such as maximum values, effective durations, Arias intensity, energy indices, etc.).
Now using this enriched database, it is very easy to search for any record with a desired characteristic (such as source-to-site distance, soil type, etc.). You can limit the search range by sorting and filtering data or visually look for the record by plotting different parameters on a graph.
For a precise comparison of two or more records, the Record Comparison Tool has been introduced in order to view and compare different response plots of records simultaneously. (such as response spectrum, energy, power, etc.)
Moreover, the SMDA features a variety of tools for calculation response spectra (linear, nonlinear, tripartite) and design spectra, Fourier Amplitude, Power and Energy spectra and two special tools for Synthetic Accelerogram generation as well as SDOF Analysis.
